Premiere of Hristo Bukovski in Sofia
The premiere of the novel "Do you catch a fairy" by Hristo Bukovski gathered on Vidovden (June 15) in front of the emblematic Sofia bookstore "Bulgarian Books" spiritual companions of the author and zealous admirers of literature.
Two days before the premiere, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veselina Vachkova was included in Rumen Leonidov's program "The Silent History" on the "Hristo Botev" program of the Bulgarian National Radio to share her opinion about the book. Here is part of the recording of her speech:
The subtitle of "Do You Catch a Fairy" - a novel by Hristo Bukovski - is "Notes from the Border between Worlds". "Between the worlds" one learns to travel in time in the first place. One can have inner intuition, one can have all kinds of gifts and training, but the way one liberates oneself and puts this at the center of one's thinking was definitely introduced into our science and culture by Prof. Alexander Fol. It turns out that what heals a person is drunkenness without intoxication. This wonderful novel plays the role of what people do in such a situation - they reach for alcohol, for intoxicants. For him, this novel plays the role of all this. Bukowski tells us something else that the Thracians knew perfectly and Prof. Fol kept repeating it to his students, the bad thing is that we do not always manage to follow it, that the meaning is in the little things, that the meaning is in this moment, in which we live - carpe diem - seize the moment and always be ready to open yourself to a new love. Love is healed only by love. Nothing else can be salvation for a person who has experienced this brightest, most wonderful, but also the most devastating feeling.
After the premiere, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veselina Vachkova announced on the social network on the Internet:
"With this novel, Hristo Bukovski marks the beginning of a completely new literary genre, which I would call metaphysical naturalism. To some extent it is the next level of the magical realism created by another Bulgarian (Gogol, a descendant of our Kazan ancestors). In part, Hristo's metaphysical naturalism is outwardly similar to the mystical realism of Hesse, Bulgakov, or Dostoevsky. All the author's books after 2011 faithfully follow the direction and style outlined in "Notes from the Border between Worlds"… After that, not only will all Bukowski's books become far more understandable to you, but you will probably look at the world and the Others, at least from time to time, in a new, unsuspectedly powerful light.
