Korea has unique types of traditional art that are completely unknown to Europeans. Developed in detail, with skill and professional knowledge, the compositions of Korean artists introduce us to the aesthetics of their people and present us with the land of morning freshness.
More than 1,000 years ago, Korean craftsmen decorated furniture and other household items with mussel shells. The use of this natural material was introduced in the field of fine art in the 60s of the twentieth century as a new type of art technique - the so-called mosaic Mannonwa / literally eternal picture /, as the brilliance and color of the mother of pearl shell preserve for decades.
In Korea, the land of morning freshness, surrounded by seas on three sides, artists have a wide selection of materials for making Mannhonhwa, creating beautiful landscapes and figural compositions of mother-of-pearl. Today, the monastic art of Mannonwa deserves its place and is gaining wide popularity in many countries around the world.
Hand-embroidered tapestries are a traditional Korean art that reflects the personal world of Korean women. The main genres are natural landscapes, portraits, images of animals and plants.
With their realism and truthfulness, Korean tapestries have won gold medals at international exhibitions.
